Speech Team Places 2nd at Districts, Qualifies 7 Entries for State

The Nebraska Christian speech team had a phenomenal day at the C2-5 District Meet in Loup City on March 15. After going into the final rounds in fourth place, the team surged ahead to finish the day in second place with 282 points to District Champion Burwell’s 284 points.

Each school is allowed to take 18 entries to districts (two each in nine events). NC only took 14 entries and still placed ahead of several teams that were full with all 18 entries. Of NC’s 14 entries, 11 finaled, and 7 placed in the top 3 to qualify for State Speech in Kearney. Additionally, two entries–Makenna Loy in Serious Prose and Danae Burdett in Persuasive Speaking–were crowned event champions. The state qualifiers will compete in the Class C2 State Meet on Thursday, March 24, at UNK.
