Kohmetscher, Murphy Win Gold at State

The Nebraska Christian track team had a great two days at Class C State Track. Team members brought home a total of 10 medals, three of which were gold. Senior Nolan Kohmetscher was responsible for two of the golds, winning both the 3200 meter run (9:42.00) and the 1600 meter run (4:32.28). He also placed 4th in the 800 meter run (2:00.24). Senior Tara Murphy won the other gold medal in the 100 hurdles (15.14), and she placed 8th in the 300 hurdles (49.27).

Murphy said, “Winning the 100 meter hurdles was definitely the greatest moment in my high school athletic career. All the time, training, and practice finally paid off, and I couldn’t be more excited about it!”

Other NC medalists were Senior Katie Cumpston, who placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run (5:21.27) and 4th in the 3200 meter run (11:42.52); Sophomore Brennan Nokelby, who placed 5th in the 1600 meter run (4:35.99) and 6th in the 3200 meter run (9:53.84); and Senior Dillon Rose, who placed 5th in discus (153-05.00).

The boys’ team finished in 4th place with a total of 36 points, and the girls’ team finished in 11th place with a total of 22 points.
