Speech Team is Conference Runner-Up

On Wednesday the 22nd of February of 2017, the Nebraska Christian Speech team competed at Conference in St. Edward. The team placed second overall and won the conference runner up award. Ten out of eleven of the team’s entries medaled that day. The medal winners were: Cole Ruybalid, 4th in serious prose; Jeremiah Ebel, 1st in OID; Morgan Schulze, 3rd in informative; Wendy Bornmann, 1st in OID, 2nd in poetry; Hailee Broman, 1st in OID; Marilla Flynn, 2nd in duet. Row 2: Alex Hao, 1st in humorous prose, 2nd in duet; Lydia Langemeier, serious prose; Bekah Feddersen, 3rd in poetry; Madi Felt, 5th in humorous prose. Row 3: Steph Strobel, 3rd in duet; Micah Loy, 1st in OID, 3rd in duet; Danae Burdett, 1st in persuasive, 1st in OID.

“It was almost like a rewarded practice. We still need to review and make more changes for the upcoming meet, which will have bigger schools and tougher competition,” said Jeremiah Ebel of the OID competition.

Hailee Broman said, “Despite the tough competition, everyone did better than expected. I look forward to and hope to have a similar outcome at districts.”

The team will compete in districts at Columbus Lakeview on Monday, March 13.
