Grandparents’ Day Full of Outer Space Fun!

On October 13th, the Nebraska Christian elementary students were able to enjoy an afternoon out of the classroom. The students welcomed their grandparents to “NC NASA Training” to see what they are doing in school this year, while also getting to spend the day with them. There were plenty of activities throughout the day to keep both grandparents and students entertained. Special Events Coordinator Kristy Langemeier and many volunteers worked hard to provide everyone with a special and enjoyable experience, and they did just that. Sixth grader Gavin Falk said, “It was a lot of fun to have my grandparents at school for a day. We got out of class and had fun playing games together.”

Games were only one of the activities that happened during the day. Grandparents and grandchildren also enjoyed a meal, a craft, and a hayrack ride together, and the elementary band and choir provided music. Throughout the entire day, families were able to share old stories and make new memories as well. “My favorite things about Grandparents Day were getting to spend time with my grandparents and eating the ice cream!” commented sixth grader Alexandria Bruning.

Overall, Grandparent’s Day was a complete success. Students were able to relax out of the classroom setting, while grandparents got to spend time with their grandchildren. Both parties involved seemed to enjoy the day and had a blast spending time with each other.
