Junior Eagle Basketball Clinic

On November 23rd, the Eagles’ basketball team enjoyed time with 26 kids from grades 1-6 who attended the Junior Eagle Basketball Clinic. During the 1-1/2 hour session, the players on the team helped the kids to work on their basketball skills and fundamentals.

This is the first time the basketball team has tried this program, and the main purpose for it is to teach kids basketball fundamentals when they are young and ready to learn new things. After the first session, Head Boys’ Basketball Coach Mark Leonard said, “This program is a good way to build fundamental skills for the kids, and also for the kids to enjoy playing basketball. A big thank you to all the parents and athletes who helped make the first Junior Eagle Clinic a success.”

When asked about the program, Jayden Leonard, one of the kids who was involved in the program, responded, “I thought it was a fun event, and I thought the most enjoyable part was lay-ups because I can shoot those into the basket.” Jayden hopes participating in the Junior Eagle Clinic will help her become a better ball handler.

The next Junior Eagle Basketball Clinic is at the Nebraska Christian Gymnasium on December 14th, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Other clinics will be held on January 4, January 11, and February 8. For more information, send a message to Coach Leonard or call him at 308-946-3836.
