Teacher Feature: Karmen Hamer

This year the high school students have a new teacher, Mrs. Karmen Hamer. She will be teaching English and Drama and coaching One-Act. Along with her busy work load, she has four children: Kordell, an 11th grader ; Bailey, a 10th grader; Kourtney, a 6th grader; and Brielle, a 4th grader; all of whom attend Central City Public Schools.

karmenMrs. Hamer’s husband Brandon has many connections to Nebraska Christian: Orvil Hamer, one of NC’s founders, is his grandfather, and his parents Bill (’69) and Judy (Fast ’69) Hamer are alumni. Mrs. Hamer herself has many cousins who attended NC. Although Mrs. Hamer is new to the current students, she is not new to the school, as she coached speech and taught English in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Also, Brandon coached football for many years.

Mrs. Hamer’s desire and passion for seeing kids learn is what encouraged her to become a teacher. She loves to be creative, so coaching One-Act will be one of her favorite activities. Outside of school, Mrs. Hamer uses her creativity for photography, scrap booking (when she has time), and playing many instruments. Mrs. Hamer is very excited to be here, and we are very excited to have her. Welcome back to the Eagle family, Mrs. Hamer!
