Inside the Classroom: Construction Systems

Nebraska Christian offers a range of Industrial Technology classes, and each class works on projects throughout the year.

Since the beginning of the year, the Construction Systems class has been building a new shed to replace the one next to the Industrial Technology building. The project was started completely from scratch. While working on this project, the students have learned how to draw the design, build a frame, add walls, cut out a window, add the window, and add shingles. The class is currently working on adding a door. After this project is completed, the class will build a second shed to sell in the school’s spring auction.

And later this year, they’ll be making cabinets, siding buildings, and even pouring concrete foundation.” With these skills, students will be able to increase their opportunities for employment in the future, as well as take on their own home improvement projects.
