The Final Whistle: Eagle Football

The Eagles’ 2014 football season has come to a close as the final whistle was blown on Friday, October 24th. The team had a successful season with a record of 5 wins and 3 losses. It was an emotional game for the seniors because it was their last time to walk off the field with the team that they had bonded with and practiced with for the past few years. As God worked though the team this year, you could see the character of the football boys growing. The team focused on unity and respect. Head Coach Carl Ostrand and his assistant coaches taught good technique and good behavior on and off the field. The players met difficulty and trial this season, but they stuck together and played as a team.

The final game on Friday was a cherry on top for the Eagles as they etched a ‘W’ in the books for one last time this season, beating Clarkson/Leigh 67-42. The team was ineligible for playoffs this year because Nebraska Christian’s enrollment was above the playoff eligibility enrollment limit for eight-man football.

As pads are getting handed back in and players are going home right after school, buzz for next year’s football team is already spreading. Our boys this year had a fantastic season, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s team.
