The Nebraska Christian Boys’ Basketball team has recently begun hosting several basketball clinics for boys and girls in grades 1-6. The clinics take place on Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Nebraska Christian High School Gym.

“The Junior Eagle basketball program gives our elementary students an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game of basketball, which is important for future success in basketball,” says boys’ basketball coach Mark Leonard. “This is something our basketball program enjoys doing, even though it is a big time commitment for our boys’ basketball players.”

In the Saturday morning clinics, the junior eagles will learn various basketball fundamentals, such as shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. During home NC basketball games, the first through third graders who have attended the clinics will get to play during half-time of the first varsity game. The fourth through six graders will get to play during the half-time of the second varsity game.

There is no charge for these clinics, and the program is open to boys and girls from the surrounding communities. The Junior Eagles showcased their basketball skills at the first home basketball game on December 5th. Upcoming Saturday clinics will be held December 20 and January 10, 17, and 24.
