Boys’ Basketball Wrap Up

On February 23, the Nebraska Christian Boys’ Basketball team took on East Butler at the York High School Gym in the first round of the C2-4 Sub-districts. The Eagles came in with a record of 6-15, and East Butler came in with a record of 3-18. The Eagles played a complete game and came out on top with a season high score of 64-52. The Eagles’ leading scorer was Jerod Prettyman, who shot lights out and added a couple of steals and assists. Prettyman was accompanied by Dillon Rose, who also scored in the double digits. The Eagles were 20 for 29 on free throws and had quite a night from beyond the arc, connecting on six 3-pointers. Scoring for the Eagles were Jerod Prettyman (26 points), Dillon Rose (10 points), Zac Dockweiler (9 points), Andrew Winsterman (9 points), Logan Faeh (7 points), and Nathan Griess (3 points).

On Tuesday, February 24th, the Eagles were back in action against David City Aquinas. The Eagles played hard but ended up coming up short to lose to the number one seeded Monarchs 75-50. The leading scorer for the Eagles was Jerod Prettyman, who had 19 points. The Eagles shot 11 for 15 from the free throw line and hit 5 shots from behind the arc. Scoring for the Eagles were Jerod Prettyman (19 points), Dillon Rose (13 points), Logan Faeh (7 points), Andrew Winsterman (5 points), Zac Dockweiler (2 points), Nathan Griess (2 points), and Tim Hofmann (2 points).

The loss on Tuesday ended the season for the Eagles, but this year’s accomplishments give them hope for next year. Nathan Griess, senior starter for the Eagles, said, “It was a challenging season, and we didn’t quite get the results we wanted, but I got to spend it with the people I love, including my little brother Ben, who was a freshman this year.” The Eagles look to improve over the summer and return next year with an experienced team, looking to improve on this year’s accomplishments.
