From San Francisco to Central City

This football season, there is one big change on the Nebraska Christian football field: the new football lights! “What started out to be a repair job this summer of one pole and electrical boxes grew to all the lights being replaced,” said Mr. Gib Killion, who, along with Mr. Wayne Williams, helped with the installation of the new football lights.

All the new lights are from Candlestick Park in San Francisco. Candlestick Park is where the San Francisco Giants played baseball and the San Francisco 49ers played football. The lights were taken down before Candlestick Park was demolished after the fall of 2014.

“The total cost for everything with the football lights has not been finalized yet, but should be around $40,000. We are also putting in some parking lot lights, which will be additional cost,” said Killion. Many alumni have pitched in to help cover some of the cost of the lights.

The players are already seeing a difference with the new lights, which made their debut at Homecoming. “The new football lights are a lot brighter, and it is easier to see the ball and catch it,” said Zac Dockweiler, a senior football player.

We hope the new football lights illuminating the field can help our Eagles to play to their very best. Go Eagles!
