Myers, Flynn Selected to All-State Choir

Nebraska All-State Music, which begins today and runs through Saturday, is a music clinic and concert which gathers excellent young musicians from sophomores to seniors in high school. The All-State Music committee carefully selects all the participants and then hosts a three day clinic. All the qualifiers will practice with the director on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for two days, and then they will perform at the Lied Center on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

In order to qualify for All-State Music, the musicians have to practice all of the all-state songs and send in an audition tape. They need to get their own music and learn this music for a few months. Without diligent practice and patience, it is difficult to make it to All-State Music.

This year, Nebraska Christian senior Matthew Myers and junior Marilla Flynn have qualified for All-State Music. Both of them went to All-State Music last year, and it was an amazing experience and inspired them a lot. The songs they performed last year challenged them to reach a higher level with their music, and they got opportunities to sing with excellent musicians from other schools. Matthew and Marilla are looking forward to this year’s All-State Music because the songs and the director are different from last year. We appreciate their hard work, and we pray they will enjoy this excellent opportunity of working with other musicians and perform their best.
