NC Hosts Conference Quiz Bowl

On February 17, Nebraska Christian hosted the conference schools in a double elimination tournament. The Goldenrod Conference meet is the main competition between the quiz bowl teams from the 11 Goldenrod Conference schools. Nebraska Christian had two teams competing: a senior high team with 13 members and a junior high team with 10 members. Mrs. Dee Flynn is the coach of the high school team, and Mrs. Tara Mundt is the coach of the junior high team. As the host school, Nebraska Christian provided the readers and officials.

The questions covered a broad range of topics including science, history, geography, language arts, music, government, current events, and math. The Nebraska Christian High School team was crowned the Goldenrod Conference Champion. They lost one round to Fullerton only to battle back from the loser’s bracket to beat Fullerton twice in a row for the championship. The score of the final round was 50-0. The junior high team had many first-time members, and they won one round and lost two.

When asked about the Goldenrod Conference Quiz Bowl, Mrs. Flynn said, “We were happy to host the tournament, though it did take a lot of work. We thank all those that volunteered to help us. We received many compliments on a well-run competition. We were very proud of both teams, especially the championship high school team! We are looking forward to the District meet on April 4 and hope to proceed from there to the State competition.”

In summary, Nebraska Christian successfully hosted the Goldenrod Conference Quiz Bowl, and both of our teams did a great job in the tournament. We are proud of our young Eagles’ work and urge them to do well in their next tournament.
