Introducing the Girls’ Club Soccer Team

This year, a new team is making its debut on our winter sports roster. The girls’ soccer team, coached by Mr. Clay Mankin, consists of 11 members and is thrilled to be a part of the Nebraska Christian winter sports family. The team practices alongside the boys’ soccer team, which is also coached by Mr. Mankin.

The team had its first game on Saturday, October 28, at the Grand Island Community Fieldhouse. Many fans and family members came to support the team, which gave the girls the boost of confidence they needed to play well in their game.

The first game was to be played against York at 11 am, but at the last minute, the game was cancelled. “This just gave us more time to warm up and practice for the next game,” Olivia Janssen said. After an hour wait and a lot of warm up, the girls played against Aurora. The first half went pretty well with the score being 1-0, Aurora in the lead. The second half was not so pretty, with Aurora scoring 3 more points. The NC team played well, but the game ended in a 4-0 loss. Despite this setback, the team is very excited to continue their season and grow in their playing abilities.

“I feel like I have really bonded with this team already in the short time we have been together, and we are very close, almost like a family,” Madi Felt said. The team dropped its most recent game to York Gold 3-0 and will next play the Aurora team on December 2. Please join us in helping support the team and praying for their success this season.
