Girls Soccer Team Completes Second Season

This year marks the second official season of the NC Girls Soccer Team. The Eagles have eight returning players, including four seniors. Three new athletes have also joined the squad. Team Captain Skylar Swantek commented, “This sport is truly a gift from the Lord. I have loved every second of it, and I have been very encouraged by the the hard work of the girls on this team. These players are truly a joy to be around and have become some of my best friends. I am so proud of this team and the love they display for each other. We all work together, helping each other throughout the game to accomplish a common goal. It displays a beautiful picture of how the body of Christ works.”

The team is coached by Joshua Davis and Lorenzo Santillian. Davis said, “It has been a great experience to coach these ladies this year! They have put a lot of energy into their practices and worked very hard to improve their skills and all that work has really paid off.  We don’t have a great record, but I don’t feel our record is reflective of our team. All our games have been very close, and I am very pleased with the tremendous progress these ladies have shown in every game.”

The season has been an encouraging one, and the Lady Eagles have experienced a lot of growth in their skills and understanding of the sport. The support they have for one another and their desire to be united and work as a team makes the game an enjoyable one and leads to success on the field, perhaps not in wins, but certainly in performance and improvement.
