Remote learning continues at Nebraska Christian. Current guidance is that our campus remain closed until April 30th, but to continue to re-assess the situation. Under the two-week premises of assessment, we will continue to evaluate the situation, and we will be prepared to open sooner, if deemed safe to do so. However, we all must be prepared for the reality the school may not re-open this year.

NC Family,

As the COVID-19 situation has developed, we recognize that the situation is serious and requires a thoughtful response.

First and foremost, we desire to honor God and expand his Kingdom with the actions we take in the coming days. One way we can be God-honoring is through caring for the most vulnerable among us. We have several in our school community who are high risk with respect to the Coronavirus.

After much research and discussion, I wanted to share this article as it data driven and helped us come to an immediate response as a school. This evening, the Nebraska Christian Board of Education and our other school leadership met. There was consensus to close NC for this week. In this time away from school, please quarantine your family as best as possible and pay special attention to those that are most vulnerable around you. It appears that this virus spreads quickly even when symptoms are not present or barely present. Please know that our staff will use this next week to prepare. We anticipate that we will be doing a significant portion of learning in an online format.

The Commissioner of Education has communicated that the time missed should not impact educational hours or graduation, but some steps will need to be taken to continue learning. They want us focusing on the health and wellness of our community.

NC Family, if you need help during this time, please let us know or reach out to other families in our community. Our prayer is that the love Christ is shown through this situation. Thank you for for prayers and pleas keep an eye on your email and text messages for more information.

For His glory,

Tim Hekrdle

First and foremost, we acknowledge the Lord’s foreknowledge of all events and His sovereignty in the world.  As we take precautions and anticipate changes to our plans, we trust in Him as our Hope and seek to bring glory to God in all that we do.

Nebraska Christian Schools will follow the Central District Health Department and Nebraska Department of Education’s recommendations regarding COVID-19. If or when a case of COVID-19 is confirmed in our school, community, or area, physical school will be shut down for a period of time.  If this happens, all school sponsored events will be cancelled or postponed until further notice.

If your child shows symptoms of illness, please keep them home AND call the school to report the illness (308-946-3836).  If you are concerned about their diagnosis, please call your local health care provider to assess your particular situation.

NC teachers are preparing for online or hybrid-style options in order to continue your child’s education in the event that we cannot be physically present at school.  If you are concerned that you do not have what is necessary for online learning, please contact the school.

As this is a quickly developing situation, new information and status updates will be delivered as frequently as necessary via text and email to NC parents, as well as on our website and social media accounts.

In Him,

Tim Hekrdle
Superintendent
