Festival of Lessons and Carols
The first celebration of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols occurred on Christmas Eve, 1918, presented by the choir of King's College, Cambridge. Since its inception, this beloved Christmas celebration has spread beyond Cambridge and is now presented throughout the world as a joyous reminder of Christ's birth and the fulfilment of God's plan for the Redeemer to save mankind.
For nearly 20 years, Nebraska Christian has hosted its own Festival of Lessons and Carols. Students and adults from Nebraska Christian and around the country come together to remember the Savior's birth. Conducted by Mr. Eric Dale Knapp, the Festival is a highlight of the Christmas season and a time-honored tradition anticipated each year by the school and community.
Maestro Knapp leads a Festival Orchestra and Choir, consisting of local adults and students, as well as a select childrens' choir, all gathered around a grand Advent Wreath. The Festival features scripture readings (Lessons) and traditional and modern sacred Christmas music (carols).
