Quiz Bowl Team Heading to State

Quiz Bowl is an academic competition between teams. The team members need to answer questions head-to-head according to what they know. The questions are various, including questions about literature, science, fine arts, current events, sports, and popular culture. It requires team members to have a solid understanding about a specialized area and well-rounded general knowledge.

The Nebraska Christian Quiz Bowl team consists of students from grades 9-12. On April 4th, Osceola hosted the Quiz Bowl District Competition at their high school. There were 19 teams from the schools that are in the Educational Service Unit 7. These schools represented Classes A-D, so they varied in size from very large to very small. The Nebraska Christian High School Quiz Bowl team brought home runner-up honors from its district, which qualifies the team for the State Quiz Bowl Competition on April 27th in Holdrege. Coach Dee Flynn said, “We have a great, well-rounded team this year. I have high hopes that we will do well at state!”

Andrew Feely, a sophomore, said: “The competition was fun and exciting. The last round against Columbus was a nail biter, but in the end, both teams had a great time. My expectations for state are high. The teams are going to be harder and faster, but I think we will be able to make it fun.”
