Students Attend StrivU Social Media Conference

On February 19, twelve Nebraska Christian students attended the winter Striv Social Media Conference, which was held at Heartland Community Schools in Henderson. Several small schools attended this event, such as Palmer, Exeter-Milligan, Cedar-Rapids, and High Plains and also some larger schools, such as Aurora and York.

The conference was basically set up for students who were interested in social media and also gave students some instruction in order to help them better understand the importance of social media.

In order to understand how social media works in diverse ways, several representatives from various schools presented their techniques for filming Striv TV and incorporating social media into the broadcast, and they also provided valuable advice for other schools to enhance the quality of Striv TV. Afterward, each school broke out in sections to film their own video and to post on Instagram. Below is one of the videos the NC team made:

Following the Instagram session, Chris Ericson, a teacher at York High School, and Craig Badura, a teacher at Aurora High School, shared their own stories about how necessary social media was in their life. Following this presentation, each school broke out in sections to experience the Vine app, which is a six-second video app and gives schools a chance to present themselves. Nebraska Christian’s Vine video is below:

The Keynote Speaker was former Husker player Adi Kunalic, who runs a social media company. He talked about using social media from a business perspective and urged students to be aware of what they’re putting out about themselves when they use social media.

Overall, the conference provided a good introduction to various aspects of social media and helped students think through social media’s role in their lives.
