Ten Track Records Broken or Tied During Season

The state track meet wrapped up an incredible season which saw nine school records fall and one tied. Sophomore Katie Cumpston set new records in the mile (5:31.45) and two mile (11:47.6). The previous record holders were Victoria Bergen (FS ’07) in the mile (5:33.49) and Kassia Anderson (’01) in the two mile (12:06.82).

Sophomore Tara Murphy set records in the 100 meter hurdles (15.6) and 300 meter hurdles (47.2). Previous record holders were Susan Kremer (FS ’86) in the 100 hurdles (16.2) and Rebecca Woods (’09) in the 300 hurdles (47.5).

Junior Carson Huenefeld set a new record in the 100 meter dash (10.9). The former record holder was Bob Buller (FS ’75) at 11.1 seconds. Huenefeld tied Buller’s 200 meter dash record at 22.7 seconds.

Senior Hans Epp set three records: the 800 meter run (1:56.54), the mile (4:28.75), and the two mile (9:47.9). Epp broke his own 800 record (1:57.80). Clark Pedersen (’81) previously held the mile record (4:32.2), and Jahn Landrigan (’13) had held the two mile record (10:01.94).

Girls’ 1600 meter relay: Amber Mazankowski, Cassidy Ostrand, Cailyn Ostrand, Tara Murphy

One relay record was broken: the girls’ 1600 meter relay (4:16.2), which was comprised of sophomores Cassidy Ostrand and Tara Murphy, junior Amber Mazankowski, and senior Cailyn Ostrand. The previous record was held by the 2013 relay team of Ostrand, Ostrand, Mazankowski, and Rubi McHargue (4:16.73.)
