Boys’ Basketball Preview

This year’s highly-anticipated basketball season officially began on Monday, November 17, with the team’s first practice. As the team’s first game draws closer, the boys are working hard to make sure they’re prepared. “The team is gelling nicely together so far,” said the boys’ head basketball coach Mark Leonard. “We are working hard daily to develop team chemistry and to teach our system to the younger and newer players. I think our nucleus of returning players has a strong grasp of what we’re trying to accomplish. Our younger kids are progressing daily and are making positive strides.”

This year’s team includes seniors Jonas Chiang, Nathan Griess, Keagan Jewell, Kevin Lin, Austin Nguyen, Lewis Nguyen, and Matthew Swanson; juniors Zac Dockweiler, Logan Faeh, Nolan Kohmetscher, George Nguyen, Martin Nguyen, Jerod Prettyman, Dillon Rose, and Albert Yang; sophomore Andrew Winsterman; and freshmen Ben Griess, Tim Hofmann, Kyle Kim, Brennan Nokelby, Daniel Myers, Joel Poppe, Spencer Williams, and Richard Zhao.

“Our goal for the season is to be all in to go all out for Christ,” Coach Leonard explained. “If we are fully committed to this, wins will take care of themselves.”

The team’s first game is to be held on Friday, December 5, at home against St. Edward, with another home game against Centennial taking place the following day.
