Meet an Eagle: Marilla Flynn

NC1_9177_UCNMany Nebraska Christian students are involved in school activities. During the school year, junior Marilla Flynn, who has been at Nebraska Christian since first grade, has earned a lot of notable accomplishments due to her singing abilities.

Marilla is the daughter of Mike and Dee Flynn, who are the music and science teachers at Nebraska Christian. With the encouragement of her family, Marilla has been interested in music since she was young. Marilla is involved in the Nebraska Christian choir and band, and she is a member of the Master’s Musicians, a small vocal ensemble. Last November, Marilla was selected as a member of All-State Choir. In January and February, Marilla was a member of four honor choirs. “The Wesleyan and Hastings honor choirs were really hard to get in, especially Wesleyan,” said Flynn. “I have been practicing an Italian solo, Pietà Signore, by Alessandro Stradella. The song was fun and really emotional; it’s like an opera.”

Marilla is also preparing to sing the National Anthem at the 2016 NSAA Dual Wrestling Championships at the end of February.

“Life is crazy, but I like to be busy,” said Marilla. She also works as a waitress at the Lincoln Manor Steakhouse, has been a two-time state speech qualifier, and was a member of the volleyball and quiz bowl teams. We pray for her that everything can go well, and she can praise God through her singing.
