2016 Football Preview

At Nebraska Christian, the football team is ready for another successful season. The Eagles are coached by Carl Ostrand, who is entering his tenth season as head coach. Ostrand is assisted by Andy Falk, David Gee, and Levi Landrigan (’12). The coaches’ goals for this season are to get the men to grow in their love for God and for others, to develop spiritual strength, and to forge a faith that is not dictated by circumstances. They also want the players to improve physically and mentally to execute their roles and assignments.

The team is made up of twenty-six players: six seniors, seven juniors, seven sophomores, and six freshmen. The coaches want to use the various talents and skills that each player possesses to form one cohesive unit. One specific area the coaches want the team to improve on is passing offense output.

Ostrand had this to say about the upcoming season: “We pray that our players will remain healthy this season and those that have injuries will be able to participate soon.”

Senior Andrew Winsterman shared his thoughts about the season, as well: “Regardless of the outcome, I hope we grow closer together and we also come to know the Lord better. I hope we also make some good memories.”

The Eagles lost to Guardian Angels 28-14 in the August 26 season opener. The first home game will be Friday, September 2, versus Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family. All varsity home events can be viewed on our Striv channel: striv.tv/nebraska-christian.
